For the latest version, please use Virtual Appliance 1.0.3!

Connected Appliance Installation

Use this path when Management can reach the registry that supplies your Appliance release. Deploy Management first using Docker or the Management ISO and verify administrator sign-in.

If Management cannot reach the source registry, use Air-gapped Appliance Installation.

An internet-connected operator workstation alone does not give Management registry access.

Retrieve the Release in Management

  1. Obtain the MTG repository credentials and intended Appliance release version.

  2. Open Settings > Registries and configure the MTG registry. Add the HTTPS proxy settings if your network requires them. See Configure a Registry for customer registry and private CA options.

  3. Open Settings > Bundles > Add bundle, choose the registry source and select the configured registry.

  4. Retrieve the full release bundle for the appliance version you intend to install.

  5. Wait until the bundle reports available and verify its target release.

A Docker login on the host does not configure credentials inside Management. Use the registry settings in the web application even if you already pulled the Management container image.

Install and boot the Appliance

  1. Follow Install the Appliance to submit the installation plan using the available release.

  2. When Management shows Download and boot the Talos artifact, download the matching boot media and checksum.

  3. Prepare the Proxmox or VMware targets, then continue with discovery, disk confirmation and installation in Management.

  4. Retain the generated artifact bundle outside Management, verify the appliance and initialize ERS.

Retrieving the bundle prepares the release for installation. The installation guide covers the separate confirmation that erases the selected appliance disks.
